In my definition, art is a way to express yourself. Art is an outlet I use to relax and take a breather. I believe people create art to communicate time, how they feel, and/or a message. I create art to de-stress and take a break from reality. I'm inspired by pieces of art that are used to convey a message, like Banksy.
I came up with my ideas by going on the internet to figure out the direction I want to go in. I sketch out the ideas to see which one is more appealing to both me and for the viewer to look at and the one that fits the place is the idea I go with. My favorite tools that we have used is the carving tool. A technique I learned was how to blend better with paint, and I applied it to my projects to add depth and to add contrast. I feel that shading is also one of the weaknesses I've managed to strengthen. I believe my strongest piece was my portrait of my friend Abby because I was able to show my blending skills with the background and I enjoyed adding the color.
I feel that my projects have grown a lot since the beginning. At the start, I would have never imagined that I could draw a person other than a stick figure, let alone a detailed face. My favorite "big idea" that we used this year was aesthetic theory because I feel that I was able to have the most fun with it. I think that overall I really progressed in my artistic skills and I feel the most accomplished about that.
